When I walk the streets with my camera, my mind runs through a constant checklist of things to look for – reflections… check! leading lines… check! people in motion… check! And then in one split second it happened…
A smashed glass door, with cracks mimicking the leading lines of the street and buildings reflected in the door, while people walk by and watch what I’m doing… JACKPOT! Click! Click! Yes!
Lower my camera to my side and calmly walk back to work.
Each Friday I post a new black and white image as part of a series called “Black (& White) Friday”. I also submit that image to a weekly post called Monochrome Madness which was created by Leanne Cole and Laura Macky, and curated by Leanne. If you’re interested in black and white photography, I encourage you to participate in the weekly post, or simply head over to Leanne’s blog to check out all of the amazing submissions, and of course Leanne’s own mind blowing work.
Have a great weekend everyone, and I’ll see you back here again on Monday.

Thank you!
That’s what I call a great find.. Love your analogy of the broken glass disrupting the city lines.
Thanks so much for sharing !!
Thanks! I’m glad you like it.
Thanks for your kind thoughts on my Professions piece. Your work is absolutely stunning. A story waiting to be told!
A fellow blogger recently suggested having a writer put some words to some of my images, which I thought was a great idea. If you’re ever interested in collaborating, let me know. Could be fun.
Sure, I would be thrilled to! Just let me know where and when to start. My e-mail is nicole.sander1@gmail.com.
Nicely spotted and captured Shane. It’s great that one of the persons are checking out what you’re doing.
Thanks man,
I was watching them approach in the reflection, and waited to get them in the frame. Luckily one of threatened to see what I was doing.
JACKPOT!
That is so cool that the cracked glass followed the leading lines! I love how nonchalant you were about the whole thing lol. I see Leanne featured you. That’s really great. You deserve it!
Thank you so much Laura. The two of you have been such great motivators and inspirations for me. I was (and am) really honoured that she though to feature me… I still can’t believe it.
Believe it….you are really good! Glad you’re a part of our challenge.
Ha ha, but there was a spring in your step as you walked back to work.
Love your checklist and this image is fabulous. So interesting and much to see within.
Enjoyed reading more about you on Leanne’s site too Shane π great to see a showcase of your work.
Hey Robyn, thanks so much. I had a lot of fun with this post.
And yes, I was totally blown away and honoured that Leanne asked to do that post on me… I’ve had a smile on my face for days.
Always love chatting with you… hope you had a great weekend.
Thanks, yes a good weekend. Hope you did too π
The artist in me wants to see a red spider on that broken glass web somewhere.
Glad you had a smile on your face… Thanks. I enjoy our ‘chats’ also.
Love your inspirations Shane! Have a good week.
Likewise, and have a good week yourself.
I cannot believe that nobody has remarked that it is a smashing shot … but it is!
Hahahaha! Well said π And thanks!
P.S. I’m the sort of bad company Leanne keeps …
I hardly think that she has any sort of bad company π
