Prom Dresses

As we approach the end of the school year, high schools come alive with a special buzz that is fueled by energy that can only be harnessed by hormone super-charged teens who think they’re indestructible.

Perhaps at one time this fellow was one of them, but on this day, he doesn’t give the memory a second thought.

  1. Things change. I am now retired. We still have a photo of us at a high school prom. We were so young and in love—over sixty years ago and we are still together. It seems like a dream. There is nothing better on this planet than young love.

    1. WOW! That’s an unbelievable story. At this point I couldn’t imagine being with someone for more than sixty years, but I definitely hope to experience that πŸ™‚

Thanks for sharing, that truly was an excellent little story.

  2. Shane, yours is the second photo I’ve seen in the span of ten minutes where the subject has been captured moving out of the frame. And it worked in both images. I love it here because to me, what makes it all work, is the balance of the arrow on the sign pointing the other direction. I try to envision the photo with the arrow pointing into the frame or with no arrow at all, and I just think the image works best exactly as it is. It perfectly captures the subtext (the coming and going of a period of time long past for this gentleman).I don’t know if what I’m saying has any foundation in photographic principles, but that’s just how your fantastic photo speaks to me.

    1. πŸ™‚ thanks! It’s one of those rare instances where I saw the elements having the potential to fall into place as I approached. Because of your comment, my idea seemed to work.
